Aluminum alloys used in LED lighting systems must combine thermal conductivity, corrosion resistance, dimensional stability, and manufacturability. These alloys are primarily applied in housings, heat sinks, reflectors, and mounting brackets. Die casting allows complex shapes with integrated fins or mounting features, making it a preferred process for efficient, high-volume LED lighting production.
A360 provides excellent corrosion resistance and superior fluidity for thin-walled, detailed castings. With a thermal conductivity of approximately 96–105 W/m·K, it is well-suited for LED heat sinks and outdoor fixture enclosures. A360 also performs well in high-humidity and coastal conditions.
AlSi12 offers high casting precision and improved corrosion resistance due to its high silicon content. It allows sharp fin geometries, making it ideal for heat dissipation structures in compact or decorative LED systems.
ADC12 balances mechanical strength with good thermal performance and excellent castability. It is widely used in commercial and industrial lighting housings where wall thicknesses must be controlled and post-machining is minimal.
EN AC-43500 is preferred for structural LED components that require moderate strength, reliable corrosion resistance, and thermal conductivity. It is especially common in architectural and street lighting frames.
Thermal Conductivity: Alloys with higher conductivity enable better heat dissipation, extending LED lifespan.
Corrosion Resistance: Essential for outdoor or damp environments. Anodizing or powder coating further enhances protection.
Die Fillability: Complex fin structures require alloys with high fluidity, such as A360 or AlSi12.
Surface Finish: Alloys with lower porosity support better adhesion for anodizing, painting, or powder coating.
